In 2024, the City of New Franklin was awarded a Connecting Communities Planning Grant from AMATS (Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study) to plan for the future of State Route 619 from the city limits on the east to State Street on the west. The plan takes into consideration vehicle traffic, pedestrian traffic, intersections, zoning, future development, and access management.

The planning process includes data collection by AMATS and OHM Advisors and public input from the community, a Steering Committee, City Council and City Administration. The plan will be finalized around the end of 2025 and presented to City Council and the public.

Public input opportunities, which included pop-up events and a community survey, were held throughout the year. Information was listed here and on the City of New Franklin Facebook page
