Sail Into Summer Craft & Vendor Fair
Presented by St. Luke Lutheran Community Portage Lakes
Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 12 pm to 4 pm
In 2026 we're very excited to partner once again with Heart & Home Handmade Markets for our Sail Into Summer event! With nearly 100 vendors, guests can stroll through and shop from many unique and talented crafters and artisans. Be sure to sample offerings from a variety of food trucks, sip a beer or a glass of wine, all while taking in the beautiful lakeside setting. Relax on the shores of Turkeyfoot Lake while watching the Sailing Regatta (until 2pm) or take a free pontoon boat ride around the lake. Music & Movies by the Lake
Bring a blanket or lawn chair, snacks and drinks, and enjoy an evening of lakeside entertainment on the picturesque lawn and patio. Outside food and beverages permitted. Concessions will be available during movie nights! Find more information on our Facebook event page.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic

A barbershop quartet, classic lawn games, and a good old-fashioned pie-baking contest are all part of this New Franklin tradition. Food trucks, beer and wine, and free carnival games for the kids make it a can't-miss, fun-filled event for the whole family! Looking to enter the pie baking contest? Lakeside Boats & BBQ Fundraiser
Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 6 pm to 9 pm
Presented by
This annual fundraiser features live music, delicious barbecue, and beverages from our favorite local breweries and wineries. Proceeds raised are used to host free community events at the Tudor House. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available. The event typically sells out so plan to buy your tickets early!
Lakeside Oktoberfest

One of our most popular events! Enjoy a pint, dance the polka, and sample some local German fare while taking in the beauty of Portage Lakes in the fall.
Christmas Open House

Celebrate the season with refreshments, a nativity scene (photo op with costumes provided!), activities for kids, performances by local music groups, and a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Yard Waste Drop Off
2026 Date TBD (typically a Saturday in April)
Time: 9 am - 3 pm
Drop off grass clippings, leaves, and small branches at the New Franklin Service Garage located at 6523 Hampsher Road. We will not accept rocks, dirt, railroad ties, logs, firewood, or commercial/business drop offs. Please plan to unload your own materials, but assistance will be available if needed. Proof of residency is required, Questions? Call the New Franklin Service Department at 330-882-3824.
Leaf Drop Off
Leaf Drop Offs take place in the fall (late October through early December). Dates will be posted below when available. Leaf drop offs are held on Saturdays at the New Franklin Service Garage located at 6523 Hampsher Road.
Permitted items: grass clippings, leaves, and small branches
Not accepted: commercial/business drop offs, rocks, dirt, railroad ties, logs, firewood
Please plan to unload your own materials. Assistance will be available if needed. Proof of residency required.

Saturday, April 25, 2026
9am to 12pm
This free event for New Franklin residents offers confidential paper shredding with proof of residency. A limit of 10 file boxes or bags is enforced; there is no need to remove staples or paperclips from paper. The event is held rain or shine at City Hall at 5611 Manchester Road. Enter at the fire station and exit on Center Road. This event is funded by a grant from NOPEC.

The New Franklin Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 am on Memorial Day. The parade steps off from Grace Bible Church (5781 Manchester Road) and goes approximately 1 mile south on Manchester Road to Manchester Cemetery. A Remembrance Ceremony takes place at the cemetery immediately following the parade (approximately 11 am). Parking and restrooms are available at Grace Bible Church and Lockhart Field. Participants should email Christine Lippincott at the City of New Franklin to register. Line-up begins at 9 am
